SOMETHING TO COUNT ON

If you worry about everything
And do not trust the truth,
Your worries will sink you.
It is God's nature
To enter our lives
To offer rescue, peace and calm.
He will unfold your fingers
From that which is sinking you.

STILL THERE

---

God walks alongside us
Every day we live.
Even when we don't see him,
God is still there;
No matter where we're going,
God is at our side;
Regardless of our direction,
God is ever present at our side.
He is still there
Because God is not restricted
By where we are already headed.

LIKE SHEEP

---

When Jesus said
That we are all like sheep
He wasn't saying
That we are cute and fluffy.
He was saying
We need a shepherd,
Bad!
There are two facts
About that adorable
Fluffy little lamb
That most folks don't seem to know:
Sheep are stupid
And they stink!
Without a shepherd,
The sheep are easily led astray;
Without a shepherd,
The flock quickly finds itself in trouble
Without the Shepherd
We are easily led astray
And often find ourselves
In more trouble than we imagined.

RISKY

---

Folks who take the notion
Of Jesus' resurrection seriously
Are taking great risks with their lives.
Easter isn't merely a spring festival
Full of lilies and hyacinths,
Chocolate eggs and bunnies,
Jellybeans and a new outfit.
At least we all hope
Easter is more than this
Because those things
Won't mean much in the long run.
The resurrection of Jesus
Means important things
For those who will allow it.
Allowing Easter to be more
In our lives than just
Candy or new clothes
Means risking being seen
By the world around us
As oddly different;
It means standing out
From the crowd
And being singled out
As weirdly odd.

EASTER PEOPLE

---

Those who take Jesus seriously
Are willing to risk their very lives
To follow what they believe.
 If Jesus is willing to experience death
 And do battle with evil,
 Then those who follow God
 Must be willing to do the same.
 What we see in the cross of Jesus
Is God revealing
That the only way to find life
Is to risk life.
 Jesus was willing lay down his life
 In hopes that greater life would emerge.
  Jesus was willing to risk
Temporary mortal life,
For eternal life.
  If we're Easter people,
We will be willing
To risk life itself
For the sake of something more.
