BASKETBALL
Basketball? You must be nuts!
No one here can play
that game!
Most of them can barely
walk
And the others are
quite lame!
Now think a minute,
Sadie.
We can play basketball.
Use trash cans for
the baskets
And put handles on
the ball!

MARATHON
How can you call it marathon,
It's only once 'round
the yard,
Barely four hundred
feet,
That isn't so very
hard.
But look at who has
entered,
Not one less than 85.
We have to make it
short, Gert
Or some will ne'er
arrive.

LIVE AND LEARN
Mistakes,
We all make them:
More often
Than we'd like to admit.
Mistakes can bring
disaster
Or cause growth.
It depends on our outlook.
We can choose
To curl up and die
Because of our mistakes.
Or we can decide
To live and learn
And thereby
Learn to live.

CROSSING TO MY FUTURE
I stand upon a river bank
And give my hair a
subtle yank;
And as I stand, I contemplate
What will be my future
fate.
I look up to the other
shore
And seek to find some
new detour,
A way to get from here
to there
Without wetting the
clothes I wear.
There is no bridge
nor boat in sight
And though it fills
my heart with fright
I know that I must
cross the stream
If ever I'm to reach
my dream.
And so I take a gentle
plunge
As towards that other
shore I lunge.
It matters not that
I'll get wet
If to that other side
I get.
For once I stand upon
that shore
My clothes will soon
be dry once more.
