COME LISTEN
Come sit here and listen

As these stories I tell
Of Sadie the silent
And Gert the pell-mell.

Gert is the leader
Of this venturesome pair
And Sadie's the lady
Who follows her there.

RUNNING
Oh, Sadie, don't eat that,

You had three cakes today.
If you do you'll get too big
To climb and run away.

Oh, Gert what does it matter
How much I eat each day?
Small or large, we're both too old
To more than waddle away!

MISSING
We've looked all over for them,

I know they are in here.
But I just can't remember
Where I put them Gert my dear.

Let's take a break from looking
And sit upon our tushes.
Hey, Sadie can you tell me
Why your teeth are in the bushes?

CAUGHT
In the throws of fickle inspiration

I must now forsake all plans,
Forgetting daily schedules,
To record for posterity
The words that percolate
Through my foggy brain.
I'd rather sleep or eat
Or even do the dishes
But these words that circulate
Must be written down.
It matters not what I prefer,
That muse is quite demanding
And so with bleary eyes
I'll contemplate and separate
Those words that rush and gather
In my cogless brain.
