THE DIFFERENCE
There you sit,
So far away
Softly saying
Words of love.
But here with me,
Right by my side,
Sits Depression
Shouting loudly
Words that tell
I am not good enough,
I am worthless
And useless
And totally unneeded.
There you stay
Convinced your quiet words
Are all I need from you,
While at my side
Sits Negativity
Repeating Depression's falsehoods.
There you go,
Off to work
For too many hours
Leaving me alone
To hear only
The lies of Depression
And Negativity.
You think your few sentences,
Spoken quietly from over there
Are enough to counter
The lies the others shout at me.
But if all I hear
A hundred times a day
Is Negativity,
How can I believe
The few words
So softly spoken from over there?

QUESTIONS
Faith is shown by obedience
But how do I obey
When previous adherence
To all I'd been asked
to do
Has only brought
Pain and sorrow,
Hurting and grief?
How do I show faith
When trust has been
eroded?
How do I trust
When all hope is gone?
How can I find hope
In what no longer is
so?

THROUGH THE PAIN
The chair I'm sitting in
Supports this tired body.
I see the chair beneath me.
I know it exists
Because I am not
Sitting on the floor
But I can not feel it
Through the pain.
God holds me in his hand
And has all my life.
I see so much evidence
That he is there
But I cannot feel his love
Through the pain of my life.

NEVER ANSWERED
I have a question
That's never been answered
And an answer is needed
Before I can move on
In what the Lord
Has called me to do.
The question
Never answered:
How do you stay happy
When everything around you
Has just fallen down
Around your ears?
How is it possible
To get on with being
Happy in the Lord
When your life
Has again crashed
To nothingness?
What process do you use
To put off the old
And take on the new?
This is something I want
But know not how to acheive,
Tell me before it is too late,
How do I do what
I know I should be doing?
