DEFINITE MAYBE
(from my single days)

He once proposed to me.
In fact, he'd marry me anytime.
All I have to do is say, "Yes."
But, he doesn't go to church,
He prefers the bars.
He's a non Christian
And an alcoholic.
At first I thought he was joking,
So I kidded back.
He was serious and later proposed again.
He wouldn't accept a "no".
He kept proposing,
So I told him "If..."
If he went to church,
If he stopped drinking,
If he did this for six months
Then I would think about
The possibility of
Maybe considering his proposal.
He didn't go to church
And he didn't stop drinking.
But he stopped proposing,
He had an acceptable answer.
And now he calls me his "definite maybe".

OH NO!
I reached the top by being busy

And climbed so high that now I'm dizzy.
I'm near the top of the ladder of life,
And looking down upon past strife.
I've struggled hard to get this far
And see no reason my climb to mar
Until I notice this one small thing:
My ladder's against the wrong building!

THE LORD HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR
I've discovered something neat about God.

He has a sense of humor!
He and I talk often
And the words
Of that still, small voice
Are sometimes quite funny.
He teases and we laugh.
Have you ever been tickled
By the Lord's sense of humor?
I'll bet you don't even believe
He has a sense of humor.
You're wondering how I can be
So sacreligious
Really!
God, funny?
Not possible!
Well, I disagree,
I think God is funny sometimes.
Ask me about the jokes
He has pulled on me.
And if you can conceive
Of such a possibility,
I might share
Some of his jokes on me
With you.

BE CAREFUL
When you ask God

To touch the heart
Of the perfect person
For a specific job
Be ready
To hear him call you
As you pray,

"God open the heart
Of the one you would have
Do this job."
Be prepared
To answer the call
When he places it
On your own heart.
When you pray

For God to send someone,
Be careful:
He could choose you
So be ready
To go and do
As he has called.
