FAST FORWARD
I wish that I could push
"Fast forward" on my life.
Blessings I've been promised
Call out from present strife,
Causing me to wish real hard
That I could push or pull
A button or a knob
To get me past this bull.
The present's not so bad,
But I want that future now.
There's got to be some way
To speed it up some how.
I keep looking for that button
To fast forward my dull life,
Instead I get more troubles
Added to my current strife.

A NEW SONG
They sang a new song
But I just couldn't sing it;
They sang of hope's flight
But my heart couldn't wing it.
Teach me to sing that song,
Let my heart take wing;
Help me to see the hope
Your new song will bring.

WHAT HAVE I HIDDEN?
I have a face
I show the world:
A mask I wear
In public places.
What you see
Is not who I am
But who I think
You think I should be.
I daily hide behind this mask
Letting no one see
What is really me.
I wear this face
In private, too,
A habit strong
I cannot break.
And now I wonder:
What have I hidden
Behind what I show?

SMACKED BY LIFE
Again I feel the pain
As tears fall like the rain.
Life's put me in my place
And smacked me on the face.
Except the place is false,
Life is really not my boss.
Though my life seems scarred
Still I find it hard
To let God have control
As through this world I stroll.
